China-Laos joint crackdown on transnational telecom fraud: 494 suspects handed over to our side

On the 22nd, the Ministry of Public Security learned that in order to strictly crack down on transnational telecommunications network fraud and other illegal activities, our public security agencies and Laotian police continue to carry out international law enforcement cooperation. Recently, Laotian police handed over 494 suspects involved in fraud who were previously detained during special crackdown operations. This is another important achievement in joint efforts by the two countries' police to combat transnational telecommunications network fraud. Since the beginning of this year, as Cambodia has continuously increased efforts to crack down on telecommunications network fraud activities, some fraud dens and suspects involved in fraud have transferred to Laos to continue their crimes. According to the China-Laos police cooperation agreement, Laotian police recently launched a special crackdown operation, arresting 494 suspects involved in fraud and handing them over to us at the Mohan port in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province. The Ministry of Public Security has organized and directed Sichuan and Chongqing police authorities to successfully receive the suspects and carry out relevant work in accordance with the law. A relevant official from the Ministry of Public Security stated that law enforcement agencies will continue to deepen police cooperation with relevant countries, further solidify and improve joint crackdown mechanisms, and persist in operations such as dismantling fraud dens, capturing "money masters," and repatriating suspects, all to fully squeeze the space for telecommunications network fraud crimes and resolutely curb the high incidence of transnational telecommunications network fraud.
