Vitalik’s comparison this time is quite interesting: dogmatism holds back the whole side, versus the idea of binding to community values to win the overall situation—effective altruism, at least, seems like it really doesn’t work well in the AI race.

Vitalik: The worst-case scenario for making the company more "idealistic" is a slowdown in development, and the best-case scenario is gaining community support.
ME News Report, May 25 (UTC+8), Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin tweeted that if a company becomes more "dogmatic" to uphold principles (such as giving Richard Stallman veto power over Google), the worst outcome is that the company's development slows down, but other companies will continue to advance technology. For sensitive areas like AGI and military technology, such slowdown might be harmful historically, but in the current context, it may be acceptable or even beneficial. The best outcome is for a company that truly aligns deeply with community values to gain spontaneous support, talent, and marketing resources from the community, which cannot be easily obtained through money alone. He believes that some AI companies have previously attempted to achieve this through effective altruism.
