BitMine Enters the Russell 1000 Stock Index Preliminary List
Founder of BitMine, Thomas Lee, revealed that FTSE Russell has released the latest preliminary inclusion and deletion list for the U.S. stock index.
In his post on X, Thomas Lee mentioned that BitMine stock with the code BMNR is on the preliminary list of candidate companies to join the Russell 1000 large-cap index.
BitMine is considered to meet the large-cap entry criteria after its market capitalization exceeded the minimum threshold of approximately $5.7 billion set by FTSE Russell.
The inclusion of BitMine in the Russell 1000 is seen as a potential positive catalyst for the company's stock because many active investment managers are only allowed to buy stocks that are constituents of the index.
Additionally, Thomas Lee also highlighted that passive index funds and ETFs generally hold around 20% to 25% of the market capitalization of a stock included in the Russell 1000.
If officially added to the index, institutional demand for BitMine shares is expected to increase significantly, from both active fund managers and passive index-based investment products.
The Russell 1000 itself is one of the most important stock indices in the United States, containing companies with the largest market capitalizations in the U.S. stock market.
