The European Council on the 22nd local time decided to expand the legal framework for sanctions against Iran, including actions related to Iran's "threats to the freedom of navigation in the Middle East" within the scope of sanctions. Under the revised legal framework, the EU can impose restrictive measures such as travel bans and asset freezes on relevant individuals and entities, and prohibit EU citizens and companies from providing funds, financial assets, or economic resources to them.
