The European Central Bank plans to hold a meeting to address the cybersecurity risks revealed by the latest artificial intelligence models, urging banks to accelerate the strengthening of their IT system security.

The Financial Times reported that the European Central Bank will warn banks during Tuesday's meeting about the potential threats to the financial system exposed by Anthropic PBC's Claude Mythos Preview and similar AI systems, while also requesting US banks with access to the technology and European peers not participating in testing to share information.

ECB officials emphasized that European banks cannot use the inability to access Mythos as an excuse not to take action, as hackers could quickly acquire this technology.

Anthropic announced last month that Mythos has been found to contain thousands of serious vulnerabilities across mainstream operating systems and browsers.
