On May 25, NVIDIA's Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress attributed the difficulties faced by other companies during the current memory shortage to their own shortcomings. In an interview, Kress stated that NVIDIA anticipated a sharp rise in memory prices and had already placed orders in advance to stock up. Amid supply chain disruptions, NVIDIA has consistently seized the initiative to ensure a stable supply of core memory chips. Kress discussed the company's strategies for addressing the memory shortage, noting that the company had foreseen this market turmoil. When addressing complaints from other companies about rising memory prices, Kress remarked that many companies were slow to realize the price surge, while NVIDIA had predicted this trend early and completed its procurement ahead of time, which should have been a proactive measure for all companies. She also revealed that NVIDIA did not purchase spot memory but instead collaborated with suppliers to produce chips based on orders. She stated, 'Suppliers work with us to customize development and then calculate the actual supply volume. We do not collaborate with just one manufacturer, but engage with three major memory suppliers simultaneously. The company has a clear product development plan and coordinates all suppliers for collaborative production; currently, no other companies are adopting this operational model.'
