Iranian officials say that if the Persian Gulf is "invaded," they will respond with a strong and unprecedented reaction
Iran’s Supreme Leader’s military adviser, Mohsen Rezaei, said that Iran will respond firmly and like never before to any hostile actions targeting the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf, and will launch countermeasures by breaking any maritime blockade. If the situation continues, Iran may consider withdrawing from the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Rezaei said that ending 50 years of Gulf insecurity under Iran’s management of the Strait of Hormuz is a legitimate right to protect national security.
