Many people can't make money, and there's one reason rarely discussed thoroughly:

They tie their self-esteem too tightly to their way of making money.
They don't just want to be rich.
They also want to be respected, want to appear cool, want to earn money in a stylish, decent, and story-rich way.
But reality is harsh:
Most money-making processes are actually not cool at all.
The things that truly make money are often boring, repetitive, and unglamorous, even a bit dull.
You ask them to pick up a camera and seriously explain how a product solves a user problem, and they find it boring.
But if you ask them to pick up a camera and show off how luxurious their life is, how fancy their car is, or how impressive their dinner parties are, they’re immediately willing.
The problem is, the market pays not because you're cool.
The market pays because you solve a real problem.
That's also why many young people prefer to be rappers, internet celebrities, or athletes, rather than start an ordinary but profitable tech company.
The former looks cooler, is easier to get noticed, and easier to receive applause.
The latter might be more boring, slower, and less sexy, but it’s actually a more realistic path to wealth.
Many people are not without opportunities to make money.
It's that they are unwilling to earn money in ways that are "not cool enough."
They’d rather chase a seemingly decent dream than run a cash-flowing business.
A truly mature view on making money might be to accept one thing:
First, make the money.
Whether it’s cool or not, that can be discussed later.
Do you think the hardest barrier for ordinary people to cross is ability, or face?
