Bitcoin journalist Joe Nakamoto states that approximately 70% of global crypto " wrench attacks" occur in France; since 2026, France has experienced 41 crypto-related kidnapping cases, roughly one every 2.5 days. Nakamoto attributes the increase in such attacks to centralized KYC data collection and data breach risks. Additionally, according to Vanessa Perrée, the prosecutor for organized crime in France, at least 88 people have been arrested in connection with crypto wrench attack cases. (Cointelegraph)
