I consider Bitcoin Pizza Day as a key historical marker of the crypto industry, which records BTC's transition from an experiment to a global asset. On May 22, 2010, the first documented real purchase took place: 10,000 BTC were exchanged for 2 pizzas, marking the practical use of Bitcoin as a medium of exchange. Today, with BTC priced around $74,000–75,000, this is equivalent to over $740 million, highlighting the scale of the asset’s long-term revaluation. I see this not as a meme, but as a financial fact illustrating the power of scarcity (21 million BTC) and the effect of time in the market.
In the context of Gate Pizza Day at Gate.com, I highlight three main types of content that form a true picture of the event:
1. Creative AI-generated pizza works (digital art, generative images, memes) as a reflection of crypto culture.
2. Stories about BTC and trading, including experiences of entering/exiting the market and observing cycles.
3. Screenshots of trades and PnL, showing the real volatility of BTC in the $70,000+ range.
I believe these three elements together form a complete market snapshot: culture + history + actual trading behavior. It’s not entertainment separate from finance, but a reflection of how the crypto ecosystem currently operates.
From a BTC market perspective, current movements remain within high volatility, which has historically ranged from 20–40% even during growth phases. Such fluctuations are often related to liquidation of leveraged positions, changes in open interest, and short-term profit-taking after impulses. I do not interpret this as a change in the long-term trend, but as a normal phase of liquidity redistribution.
Since its launch in 2009, Bitcoin has gone through several full market cycles: 2013, 2017, 2021 — each including multi-fold growth and corrections of 70–85%. The current valuation around $74k fits into this historical pattern. For me, this confirms that BTC remains a macro asset, sensitive to global liquidity and risk sentiment, not an isolated instrument.
I congratulate Gate on holding Bitcoin Pizza Day, because it’s not just marketing, but an integration of BTC’s history into modern market interaction. Such events strengthen community activity and create an additional layer of engagement beyond actual trading.
