Just made an on-chain transaction a moment ago—the feeling of it getting stuck in the mempool while it’s queued has come back… Basically, everyone is squeezing into the same road: your transaction sits in the “waiting room” while miners/packagers pick which ones to include. If your fee is too low, it’ll be slowly left sitting there, and if you’re unlucky, it can get pushed to the back of the line. If you want to cut in, you can add a bit more fee, but it still doesn’t mean it’ll be included immediately—sometimes you even run into the same transaction getting replaced (before I send now, I always check whether there’s a “replaceable” setting).
Recently, Memes and celebrity call-out orders have been hot, and the chain suddenly gets jammed. A lot of newcomers, in a rush, click confirm again and again, and they give approvals randomly… Just don’t be the last person to take the hit. When transactions are waiting in line, that’s when your mindset is most likely to break down, and the more your state deteriorates, the easier it becomes to click on phishing links. Anyway, I’d rather wait, and rather cancel and resend than do anything chaotic when the network is congested.
