Hello to all Cryptians 👋 I just looked at an interesting overview: the weakest currencies worldwide against the dollar. Truly astonishing how different the devaluations are.
The most extreme cases are well known - Venezuela with over 4 million Bolivar per dollar, the Iranian Rial with about 514,000 per dollar. But many other countries are also heavily affected. Laos, Sierra Leone, Lebanon - everywhere we see similar patterns of economic difficulties leading to sharp currency losses.
What surprised me: countries like Indonesia, Pakistan, Vietnam - even there, the purchasing power compared to the dollar has significantly decreased. Even countries like Egypt, Nigeria, Bangladesh show that weak currencies are a global phenomenon. So, the question of what is the weakest currency cannot be answered simply - it depends on how you measure.
Each of these countries is struggling with its own economic challenges. What they have in common is the continuous devaluation of their national currencies. For crypto enthusiasts, it's interesting to observe how people in these regions are increasingly turning to digital currencies to protect their savings.
Who among you has experience with countries where the local currency is particularly weak? Would love to hear more about it!
