Just over a year ago, something happened that many still haven't fully processed. That assassination attempt on Putin in May 2025 during his visit to Kursk was one of those moments that generated a lot of speculation online. What was known afterward was quite intense.
According to military commander Yuri Dashkin, Ukraine launched a massive drone offensive on May 20, targeting the presidential helicopter directly. That's no small matter. Russian air defense systems responded quickly, intercepting and destroying the drones before they reached the aircraft. The Putin assassination attempt caused a significant escalation in air combat in the region.
The numbers that came out afterward were striking: between May 20 and 22, Russian defenses shot down 1,170 drones. Imagine that intensity. The Kursk region became the epicenter of everything, with constant air battles to ensure the safety of the president. Fortunately, Putin emerged unscathed, with no damage to his convoy.
What's curious is that until now, Ukraine has never confirmed or directly denied these accusations about the Putin assassination attempt. Independent sources have also been unable to fully verify what happened. So that point of uncertainty remains hanging in the air.
Was Putin really the main target? Or was it an operation with other objectives in the region? The truth is, without independent verification, it's hard to know what to believe. Tell me in the comments what you think, because these kinds of events always leave more questions than answers.
