Do you know when you want to dive deep into the crypto universe but don't know where to start? Movies about cryptocurrencies have become a pretty cool way to understand this crazy world of blockchain, Bitcoin, and everything that comes with it. Let me share a list I created of productions that are really worth watching.

I started with Crypto, that 2019 thriller about a Wall Street banker involved in a heavy plot with cryptocurrencies and money laundering. It's fictional but quite gripping. Then there's The Great Bitcoin Heist, a 2016 Vietnamese movie with pure action—like Ocean's 11 but with Bitcoin in the mix. Very fun.

For those who want documentaries, Trust Machine: The Story of Blockchain (2018) by Alex Winter is excellent. It explores how blockchain will transform everything, from finance to humanitarian projects. The Rise and Fall of Bitcoin (2014) is more historical, showing Bitcoin's journey through the eyes of early adopters and miners.

If you enjoy series, StartUp (2016-2018) is impeccable. It tells the story of the creation of GenCoin in Miami with lots of drama and tech suspense. Meanwhile, Banking on Bitcoin (2016) is a great starting point to understand Bitcoin's history and the regulatory challenges the community faced.

There's also Crypto Rush (2020), which is different because it focuses on the rise of women in the crypto space—very inspiring. Bitcoin: Beyond the Bubble (2018) questions whether Bitcoin is a bubble or the future of money. The Bitcoin Gospel (2015) goes deeper into philosophical implications, with Roger Ver discussing financial freedom.

Now, if you want something that really shocks you: Don't Trust Anyone: The Hunt for the Crypto King (2022) is a Netflix original that tells the true story of Gerald Cotten of QuadrigaCX—who mysteriously died leaving $250 million in crypto locked up. Very chilling. Deciphered (2021) is lighter, a dark comedy where the government tries to force Satoshi Nakamoto to reveal his secrets. And there's Open Source Money (2020), a docuseries about Dragonchain and the challenges of the blockchain industry.

The cool thing is that these movies about cryptocurrencies blend education with real entertainment. You learn about the space while having fun with engaging plots. Whether you're a curious beginner or an experienced investor, there's always something new to discover.

Which one will you watch first? Do you prefer thrillers like Crypto or want to go straight into investigative documentaries like Banking on Bitcoin? Tell me your favorite or if you know any that were missing from the list.
