So I've been seeing this everywhere lately - 'Elon Musk phone is coming to take down the iPhone 17'. Screenshots, concept videos, launch dates, all over social media. But here's the thing... it's all made up.
I dug into where this actually comes from. Turns out the most viral content traces back to a concept video ADR Studio created way back in 2021. It's literally just a design group's imagination of what a Tesla phone could look like. But somehow, clickbait channels on YouTube and TikTok started sharing it with titles like 'leaked Tesla phone' or 'Elon Musk's secret project revealed', and suddenly everyone thought it was real.
What's wild is how many random tech websites just ran with it. They'd cite some random social media post as 'source' and publish articles saying Tesla is definitely launching a phone. No official statement, no confirmation, nothing. Just pure speculation dressed up as news.
I checked with actual reputable sources - Tech Advisor, VERA Files, all the fact-checking outfits - and they all confirm the same thing: Tesla has never announced any smartphone. Elon Musk has never said he's making a phone to compete with iPhone. The whole Elon Musk phone narrative? It doesn't exist outside of fan renders and rumor blogs.
What's happening here is basically a masterclass in how misinformation spreads. One concept video plus some eye-catching images plus a juicy headline equals 'hot news' on fifty different unverified sites within days. People share it, algorithms boost it, and suddenly it feels real.
The lesson? When you see something about a new Elon Musk phone or any major tech announcement, actually check if it came from the company's official channels or a direct statement from leadership. Don't just trust clips and images floating around. Look for the source. If it's only on random blogs and social media, it's probably not real.
Right now, a Tesla phone is just imagination. Not a product, not even close to being announced. Stay skeptical out there.
