Crypto World News: After the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, it was announced that a cross-border retail payments pilot will be launched, drawing on India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) infrastructure. This model allows Indian businesses to immediately receive rupees when South African buyers pay in rand. This instant payment method is similar to UPI and will boost the use of BRICS member countries’ domestic currencies. The pilot phase has not started yet and may be finalized at the upcoming New Delhi summit. The BRICS alliance is shifting its de-dollarization agenda from political slogans to concrete technological reality, and the new payments architecture is set to reshape traditional Western banking networks. The pilot testing will focus on interoperability, connecting national currencies with central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).
