If you trade, you really need to note the dates of the FOMC meetings this year. There are 8 in total in 2026, and honestly, it's crucial to know when they happen if you want to avoid unpredictable market movements.

The important thing to remember about the time: the rate decision always comes out at 2 p.m. Eastern Time, which means in Chinese time it’s between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. the next day. So if you're in Asia, get ready to wake up early or check the futures before going to bed.

Regarding dates, the FOMC meetings are held over two days (Tuesday-Wednesday), and we've already had the ones in January, March, and April. The upcoming ones are: June 16-17 (note, this includes economic projections and the dot plot), then July 28-29, September 15-16, October 27-28, and finally December 8-9. The June, September, and December meetings are special because they also release detailed forecasts.

Basically, mark your calendars. These FOMC meetings move the markets, and knowing the exact time of the release is half the battle.
