Just looked at Pakistan's currency story from 1947 to 2024, and man, it's wild. Back when the country was founded, 1 dollar to pkr in 1947 was just 3.31 rupees. Sounds almost unreal now.

For decades, the rupee stayed pretty stable—held around 3-4 rupees per dollar through the 50s. Then things started shifting. By the late 70s it was around 10 rupees, and you could already see the pressure building. But the real acceleration happened after 2000. That's when the decline really kicked in.

The 2008 crisis hit hard—jumped to 81 rupees. Then 2018-2019 was brutal, crossing 163. Fast forward to 2024, and we're looking at 277 rupees per dollar. That's an 80x depreciation from independence. The currency has lost so much value over those 77 years.

It's a clear picture of how economic pressures, inflation, and external factors compound over time. Pakistan's rupee tells a pretty sobering story about currency stability.
