APEC Trade Ministers' Meeting Opens to Promote Economic Growth in Asia-Pacific

[Caixin] After 12 years, China hosts the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) for the third time, with the APEC Trade Ministers' Meeting held in Suzhou, Jiangsu on May 22-23.

This year's APEC theme is building an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future and promoting common prosperity. At the opening ceremony of the APEC Trade Ministers' Meeting on May 22, Li Chenggang, China's Ministry of Commerce International Trade Negotiator and Vice Minister, stated that he hopes this trade ministers' meeting will send a strong signal to the world supporting multilateralism and adhering to mutually beneficial cooperation, and will strengthen confidence among all parties in building an Asia-Pacific community and promoting economic growth in the region.

"Today’s meeting is one of the most important and most attended ministerial meetings during the 'APEC China Year.' We look forward to working with all parties to achieve positive results," said Chen Xu, Chair of the 2026 APEC Senior Officials' Meeting. About 700 representatives from 21 APEC economies and international organizations attended this meeting.
