I recently had the chance to look into the zodiac fortunes again for the Year of the Horse, and I found that quite a few articles online get the “Fan Tai Sui” rules wrong. In fact, it’s not complicated at all—once you understand the different types of Fan Tai Sui, that’s basically it.

Fan Tai Sui is actually divided into five types, but the two with the strongest effects are “Zhi Tai Sui” (for one’s birth-year zodiac sign) and “Chong Tai Sui.” Zhi Tai Sui is considered the most negative influence, while Chong Tai Sui can sometimes have an even bigger impact. Besides these two, there are also “Xing Tai Sui,” “Hai Tai Sui,” and “Po Tai Sui.” Xing Tai Sui is quite special because it’s a latent influence that can easily cause legal issues—so when Xing Tai Sui is present, you need to pay attention to contracts and supervision.

I’ve seen many people worry when they learn they have Xing Tai Sui, but actually, all you need to do is be more careful in your transactions and pay attention to your health. Hai Tai Sui causes disturbances from outside—scheming people, gossip, and disputes—while Po Tai Sui involves relationship breakdowns, financial losses, or health problems.

But don’t worry too much, because besides Fan Tai Sui, there is also He Tai Sui—good harmony with Tai Sui. In the Year of the Horse, people born in the Year of the Goat have a “liu he” (six harmonies), which is a very powerful form of fortune. People born in the Year of the Tiger and the Year of the Dog are also in a “san he” (three harmonies), which is quite good as well. On the other hand, people born in the Year of the Horse encounter both Zhi Tai Sui and Xing Tai Sui, while people born in the Year of the Rat encounter Chong Tai Sui.

In addition, the zodiac signs are also related to the Five Elements’ cycles of generation and overcoming. Metal generates Water, Water generates Wood, Wood generates Fire, Fire generates Earth, and Earth generates Metal. These relationships also affect the fortunes of each zodiac sign.

However, I want to emphasize that these things themselves aren’t scientific—they’re just superstitious beliefs. You shouldn’t fully trust them or worry excessively because of Fan Tai Sui. At most, treat them as a reference: if your fortune is good, make reasonable use of it; if you run into Fan Tai Sui, just be more careful.

Anyway, the Year of the Horse is a good year. What you put in will bring you more rewards. Wishing everyone financial success, happiness in relationships, and the achievement of what you desire!
