just realized a lot of people don't actually know what 1k means lol. been scrolling through crypto communities and everyone throws around these numbers like they're obvious, but they're really not if you're new to this stuff.
so basically k is just short for kilo which means thousand. so when someone says 1k means 1,000. pretty simple right? but then it gets confusing because you see 100k, 1 million, 10 billion thrown around and suddenly you're lost trying to do the math in your head.
like on youtube or instagram when they're flexing follower counts, they'll say "yo i just hit 1 million followers" and that's literally 1,000,000. then there's billion which is insane—1 billion is 1,000,000,000. honestly the jump from million to billion always messes with my head.
i think the reason this matters so much in crypto is because we're constantly dealing with market caps and trading volumes in these huge numbers. seeing "5 million in volume" vs "5 billion" completely changes what you're looking at. if you don't know what 1k means or how to scale up to millions and billions, you're basically flying blind when reading charts or news.
anyway if you're getting into trading or content creation, just remember: k = thousand, million = thousand thousands, billion = thousand millions. sounds dumb when you say it out loud but it actually helps lol
