I've noticed there's been a lot of talk about Elon Musk lately, and it's true that this guy has really made an impact across multiple fields through the organizations he's founded or led. It's worth revisiting what he's built.
First, there's Tesla, launched in 2003. The idea was simple: accelerate the transition to sustainable energy. Today, it has become the giant of electric vehicles with models like the Model S and Model 3 that have truly changed the market. Beyond vehicles, Tesla has also invested in batteries and full self-driving, plus solar solutions via SolarCity. It has become a real empire of clean energy.
There's also SpaceX, founded in 2002, which has completely revolutionized aerospace. The crazy thing is that they managed to create reusable rockets like the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy. Sending astronauts to the International Space Station was a dream before; now it's a reality. And Starship, the vehicle intended for Mars, is a project that really shows his ambition.
The Boring Company, founded in 2016, is more discreet but interesting. The goal was to dig tunnels to solve traffic jams. The Vegas Loop under Las Vegas was their first real concrete project.
Neuralink, also launched in 2016, is something different. It’s brain-computer interface technology. The idea is to treat neurological diseases and restore cognitive functions through brain implants. It’s futuristic, clearly.
And then there's X, formerly Twitter. In 2022, Musk bought it for about 44 billion dollars, then renamed it X in 2023. Since then, the platform has undergone major changes in its advertising model and verification system. The vision is to turn it into a super-app with many integrated services.
Not to forget OpenAI, where Musk was a co-founder. The organization focuses on responsible AI development. Even though he left later, OpenAI has become a key player with GPT and its applications.
Basically, this guy has really built organizations in sectors as diverse as electric mobility, aerospace, underground transportation, neurotech, and social networks. It’s rare to see someone with this level of impact across so many fields at once.
