Just realized FOGO is actually becoming a thing and honestly it makes so much sense. It's basically the opposite of FOMO right? FOMO is fear of missing out on fun, but FOGO means being scared to actually go outside. Like you just want to stay home and that's it.

I think a lot of people started using it during lockdown when everyone was stuck inside for months. After being cooped up that long, going back out felt weird and stressful for some. The pandemic kind of trained people to avoid crowded spaces, and even now that things are open, that anxiety doesn't just disappear.

What does FOGO really come down to? For some it's social anxiety, others worry about getting sick or dealing with weather or safety stuff. There's people who just genuinely prefer being home and only leave when absolutely necessary. But then there's people where it actually impacts their life, like they start canceling plans or avoiding events they used to enjoy.

I've definitely seen friends post about this. "I have so much FOGO today" or "total FOGO vibes, not going anywhere." It's become this casual way to explain why you're bailing on something without needing to get into the whole mental health conversation.

The thing about FOGO is it's not some official medical term, but it describes a real feeling that affects real people. For some it's just a mild preference, for others it actually gets in the way. Either way, at least now there's a word for it instead of just saying you don't want to go out, you know?
