You know, Elon Musk's cryptocurrencies have become a fascinating topic for anyone following the market. This guy only posts a meme on social media, and suddenly the entire sector ignites. Interesting, isn't it?
Let's start with the most obvious: Dogecoin. It's clearly his favorite, and he really doesn't hide it. He calls it the people's cryptocurrency, talks about it regularly, and his tweets have caused massive movements in the market. DOGE is currently trading around $0.11 with a 0.62% increase over 24 hours. What's funny is that Musk appreciates both the playful and memetic aspect of the project, but he also believes in its real utility as a means of payment thanks to its low fees and highly active community.
But Dogecoin isn't everything. In 2021, Tesla invested $1.5 billion in Bitcoin, and although most of that investment has been sold since, Musk confirmed that he still personally holds Bitcoin. For him, it's digital gold, a serious store of value. Bitcoin is currently trading at $77,430, and it's easy to see why he views it as a major asset.
Ethereum is also in his portfolio. He confirmed this during a 2021 conference. Why? Because Ethereum is the infrastructure for smart contracts, DeFi, NFTs, and many innovative blockchain applications. For someone like Musk who is interested in technology, it's a logical choice. ETH is currently trading at $2,130.
Next, there are the speculations. Musk denied owning Shiba Inu, but his tweets about Floki and other dog-themed tokens triggered spectacular rallies. Floki, named after his own Shiba Inu dog, has attracted a lot of attention, although there’s no concrete proof that he owns it. It’s typical of Musk’s style: he influences the market simply by talking, whether intentionally or not.
The interesting point with Elon Musk's cryptocurrencies is that they reflect both his technological convictions and his love of market chaos. Bitcoin for stability, Ethereum for innovation, Dogecoin for fun and community. It’s quite a revealing portfolio of his personality, actually. If you follow his movements on Gate, you can get a good idea of where he thinks the market is heading.
