Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway has filed a lawsuit against Bitcoin ATM operator CoinFlip, accusing it of "knowingly assisting fraudulent transactions" and profiting through high fees, demanding that it cease operations in Missouri and seeking approximately $1.83 million in civil damages. CoinFlip responded by saying the lawsuit is "baseless" and stated that the company has established consumer protection measures and that law enforcement should investigate the real scammers. The case comes amid recent increased regulation and enforcement against Bitcoin ATM scams in multiple U.S. states, with the scams mainly targeting elderly populations. Previously, North America's largest Bitcoin ATM operator, Bitcoin Depot, also filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. (Decrypt)
