On May 22, U.S. President Trump stated to the media at the White House on the 21st that Iran must surrender its high-enriched uranium, which the U.S. is likely to destroy after obtaining it. In response to a reporter's question, Trump said, 'We will get that highly enriched uranium. We don't need it, and we don't want it. Once we have it, we will likely destroy it; we will not allow them to have it.' He also mentioned that negotiations between the U.S. and Iran are ongoing, and the outcome remains to be seen.
