Houthi Leader: Full Support for Iran, Israel Can Be Defeated

On May 22, Al Jazeera reported that the leader of Yemen's Houthi movement reiterated full support for Iran, stating that recent events indicate that despite Israel's military power and its alliance with the United States, it can still be defeated. Mahdi Mashat, chairman of the Houthi Supreme Political Council, stated, "The U.S.-Zionist aggression against Iran stems from its desire to eliminate the main obstacles to the U.S.-Israeli plans and conspiracies." He urged regional governments to unite rather than align with U.S. and Israeli policies, warning that remaining neutral is tantamount to complicity. Mashat also added, "Today, remaining neutral is an act of treason, as assisting the enemy is considered the most serious form of betrayal." He also expressed support for Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz and its right to prevent adversaries from using the strait.
