I just discovered Jen Stark's work and honestly can't stop scrolling through her Instagram. The artist is one of those who hypnotizes you with every post; her creations are an explosion of mathematical patterns, vibrant colors, and shapes that seem to come to life on their own. She started in Miami, now she's in Los Angeles, and what's interesting is that her transition to the digital world wasn't sudden but almost natural.
What caught me is how Jen Stark has maintained her consistent artistic vision even when changing mediums. She began with brushes and cut paper, then explored wood and metal, and finally jumped into NFTs around 2021 when she was experimenting during the pandemic. Her first NFT, titled 'Multiverse,' was a turning point; it brought those iconic patterns that characterize her work into a digital animation in a continuous loop. She describes the piece as a psychedelic zoo of multi-layered shapes reflecting the pulsating energy of the universe.
What’s fascinating is that her inspiration has always come from nature. Although her works explode with psychedelic colors, she draws those patterns directly from what she observes around her; she talks about natural equations, the number pi, spiral fractures, colors that attract or repel. It’s as if she mathematically translates what she sees in the world.
In 2021, Jen Stark collaborated with Art Blocks on a series called 'Vortex,' which includes 1,000 generative works released in December. Each piece spins kaleidoscopically, and she literally transformed her cut paper sculptures into code. Then came 'Cosmic Cuties' in 2022, a series of 333 vibrant, smiling items with those big eyes and wavy patterns that characterize her.
What I liked most about reading about her is her philosophy; when asked what advice she would give to other artists, Jen Stark is clear: focus on what you love, persevere, ignore those who tell you you can't. She admits she was stubborn and didn’t listen to negative voices. That approach is reflected in how her work has evolved without losing its identity.
Even Christie's took notice of her; they included her piece 'Light Box #2' in the 'Trespassing III' auction in July 2022 and invited Jen Stark as a speaker at their art and technology summit. Regardless of space or medium, this artist brings color and light to everything she touches. Her NFTs are like accessible entry points to connect with the universe’s nature from anywhere.
