I just recently discovered a pretty interesting story about a well-known Web3 player. Anyone who has watched Hong Kong Doll movies has probably heard this name on X—HongKongDoll is a figure who caused quite a bit of controversy in the crypto community a few years ago.
This person started getting famous in early 2022 after tweeting about buying a large amount of Azuki NFTs. At that time, the NFT market was at its peak—Azuki kept rising continuously, from a few E up to 30 E in just a few months. After that, HongKongDoll also announced shorting ETH using 50x leverage at a price of 2.836 USD. When ETH free-fell to nearly 1000 USD in the middle of the year, rumors spread that this person made 100 million from that trade, and some even claimed that she was financially free.
But everything changed suddenly. By the end of 2022, HongKongDoll revealed that her cryptocurrency wallet was basically down to 0. The community speculated a lot at the time—some said her position was liquidated, while others said she was hacked. HongKongDoll herself only said the situation was complicated without giving a clear explanation.
What’s interesting is that she still doesn’t seem bothered, because her OnlyFans account is still running normally—that’s the real money-making machine. So, it’s the same as with many others in crypto: a billionaire today, back to zero tomorrow, then starting all over again. Anyone has been through it.
