I just realized something quite interesting: the difficulties of investing in crypto are actually very similar to the psychological traps Buddhist scholars have warned about for thousands of years. Specifically, what are the five poisons—greed, anger, ignorance, pride, and doubt—if not things that have a major impact on our trading results?

Looking at a rising market, the clearest one is greed. When prices go up, everyone is afraid of missing the peak, so they just keep buying more and more without stopping. That’s attachment—greed: wanting to reap everything, while forgetting that no one ever catches the exact top.

Then comes anger—rage. You’ll see that when the market reverses, people immediately get angry. They curse analysts, curse themselves, and then cut losses in panic. That’s the biggest mistake in the early and middle stages of a rally.

Ignorance—being foolish and unwilling to learn—is also a problem. Many people enter the market without understanding anything at all, only following rumors and putting money in. When they lose, they blame the market instead of finding out the real reasons.

Pride is also worth noting. After a few wins, people start to look down on others, thinking they’re smarter than the market. That’s when accidents often happen.

Finally, doubt—suspicion and lack of decisiveness. When a good opportunity comes, people hesitate, dither, and then miss it. Or they hover between two ideas, not knowing whether to trust the analysis.

I realize that to survive in the market long-term—especially in the final stage of a rally—you have to eliminate these five poisons. What are greed, anger, ignorance, pride, and doubt if not the inner enemies of every investor? Only when you can control your mindset can you truly control your portfolio.
