I looked at the ranking of the most expensive cities in the world and honestly, it's crazy to see how completely Switzerland dominates. Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Lausanne... they occupy the top six spots. Zurich leads with an index of 112.5, which means living there costs 12.5% more than in New York.

What surprised me is that New York serves as the reference point with 100 points. So when you see Zurich at 112.5, you really understand why so many people talk about the cost of living in Switzerland. Housing, food, transportation, everything is insane. But on the other hand, salaries there are also among the highest in the world, between 7,000 and 9,000 Swiss francs per month.

In the United States, you have New York in seventh position, then Honolulu (94.4), San Francisco (90.7), and Seattle (86). California often appears among the most expensive cities in the world, mainly because of the skyrocketing real estate. Even Los Angeles and San Diego are in the top 25.

In Asia, Singapore ranks 12th with 85.3, Tel Aviv at 81.2, and Hong Kong a bit lower. Norway also has several expensive cities like Oslo (84.3) and Stavanger (79). But honestly, Switzerland remains unbeatable. If you want to see how the most expensive cities in the world are ranked, it's clearly Zurich, Geneva, and Basel that set the standard. Interesting to see how geography and local economy influence prices so much.
