I took a look at the latest data on GDP per capita in 2025.


It turns out that the poorest country in the world by this measure is South Sudan with just $251.
Honestly, it's just shocking.

Next is Yemen ($417), Burundi ($490), and a whole series of African countries.
An interesting point: most of the top 50 poorest countries are located in Africa.
Sudan, DRC, Nigeria, Liberia — all of them are on this list with figures from $600 to $800.

Looking further, India is at the bottom of the list with $2,878,
although this is still quite low for such a large economy.
Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda — all are in the range of $1,200 to $1,400.
The gap between the poorest country in the world and even relatively more developed countries on this list is simply enormous.
It's no surprise that these regions remain the focus of charitable organizations and international agencies.
