I've noticed that many beginners rush to enter right at the breakout level, and then wonder why the price reverses. This is where understanding the retest becomes useful.
A retest is when the price returns to the level it just broke through. It sounds simple, but it is one of the most powerful entry points. Why? Because if the price rose and then returned to this level, it shows that there is strong supply here. The level acts like a magnet, attracting the price again and again.
An interesting observation: retests occur on all timeframes. The five-minute chart, hourly, daily — the same logic applies everywhere. It doesn't matter where you trade; the characteristics of the retest remain unchanged. This works with any patterns and figures you can find on the chart.
I have been practicing waiting for retests for a long time, and it has taught me one main thing — patience. Instead of jumping immediately at the breakout, I wait for a more favorable moment. Yes, there are traders who trade right at the breakout, and that is also valid. But when you catch a retest, you enter from a much better position.
When the price approaches an important zone and reverses, it’s a clear signal. These levels work as both repelling and attracting forces at the same time. The retest helps you understand where there is truly strong support or resistance, rather than just guessing it visually.
If you haven't practiced waiting for retests yet, I recommend trying it. It will improve your trading significantly.
