Just a curiosity that came to me while reading recent data on global wealth. Who is the richest person in the world right now? Well, the answer is quite clear: Elon Musk has reached figures that frankly seem surreal. We're talking about an estimated net worth of $726 billion. It's a historic margin that no one has ever achieved before.

What’s fascinating is how he got there. It’s not just Tesla — that’s part of the story. SpaceX is growing exponentially, Starlink is expanding globally, and then there’s the whole AI and neural technology issue where Musk has enormous visibility. It’s as if he’s bet on three or four huge trends, and all the bets are paying off simultaneously.

But Musk isn’t alone in this race to the top. Right behind are the tech giants you probably know well. Larry Page, co-founder of Google, is in second place with about $270 billion. Jeff Bezos is third with $255 billion. Then Sergey Brin, Larry Ellison, Mark Zuckerberg. The list is dominated by people who built the infrastructure of the web and AI.

If you ask me what’s fueling this explosion of wealth, the answer is quite obvious: AI is transforming valuations and growth in ways we’ve never seen before. Cloud computing continues to print money. The space sector is literally taking off. Semiconductors remain critical. And most importantly, American tech companies dominate on a global scale in a way no other industry can.

An interesting thing is that many of these billionaires have held onto their shares for decades. They haven’t diversified everything into real estate or art. They left their money where they earned it. And that patience is paying off in incredible ways.

The question I ask myself is: who will be the richest person in the world in five years? Probably one of these same names, but maybe with even crazier figures. Unless someone completely new from the AI or space tech sector emerges that no one expects. For now, though, the richest person in the world remains Musk, and the gap is enormous.
