I just came across an interesting analysis of the poorest countries in the world by GDP per capita. The data is truly alarming and highlights the deep economic disparities that exist globally.

South Sudan ranked first, followed by Burundi. The Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of the Congo hold the third and fourth positions. When I look at this group of the poorest countries in the world, I mainly see states struggling with long-term instability and conflicts.

The next five places are occupied by Niger, Mozambique, Malawi, Liberia, and Yemen. Interestingly, Madagascar is ranked tenth. All of these poorest countries are primarily located in Africa, with the exception of Yemen.

What struck me about this data is how little these regions are discussed in common conversations about the global economy. These states deserve much more attention if we want to understand the current economic disparities on the planet. If you're interested in a deeper look into the global economy and wealth distribution, it's definitely worth following such data.
