Japan FSA Recognizes Some Foreign Trust-Backed Stablecoins From June 1

Japan’s Financial Services Agency issued amendments that recognize certain foreign trust-backed stablecoins as electronic payment instruments in Japan from June 1, 2026. The amendments cover foreign-issued, trust-structured stablecoins. The rules say foreign trust beneficiary rights can qualify when the issuing jurisdiction’s rules are deemed equivalent.
