I took a look at the list of the richest people in the world and it's interesting to see how wealth is distributed. Elon Musk is in first place with 444 billion, followed by Bezos with 244 billion. The fascinating part is that the top 100 richest people in the world are concentrated in tech, retail, and finance.
What surprised me is how the positions have evolved over the past few years. We have an interesting mix — Americans dominating in tech (Gates, Page, Brin), Chinese businesspeople (Ma Huateng, Zhang Yiming, Lei Jun), and Europeans in retail and industry. Bernard Arnault is in 5th place with 176 billion, which shows the power of the luxury industry.
If you follow the top 100 richest people in the world, you notice that the total wealth is absolutely colossal. Those in retail and e-commerce hold a large share — the Walton family with multiple representatives in the top, Ortega from Inditex. And it's clear that tech has become the dominant force.
What’s interesting is that this list is constantly changing. Some are growing rapidly (Huang from NVIDIA has risen a lot), others are declining. But one thing is certain — the concentration of wealth is real and visible when you look at the top 100 richest people in the world. Bloomberg updates this regularly, so the numbers fluctuate.
