Deep Tide TechFlow News, May 21 — Iran's ambassador to France, Mohammad Amin-Nejad, recently stated: "Iran is discussing with Oman how to establish some kind of permanent fee system to formalize its control over maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran and Oman must mobilize all resources to provide security services and manage navigation in the most appropriate way. And this will incur costs, so countries that wish to benefit from this passage must also bear their share of responsibility (reopening the strait requires payment).” However, he emphasized: “This fee system will be transparent. If any country today wishes to improve the situation, it must find the root cause of the problem.” (Jin10)
