Renowned developer exposes internal conflicts at Google AI: forcing out the original Gemini CLI team, new product Antigravity is pixel-level a copy of Codex
CryptoWorld News reports that well-known developer Theo (t3.gg) released a video revealing internal political struggles within Google's AI team. He stated that the original Gemini CLI team was dedicated to building open-source solutions, but as Google recruited the Windsurf founding team to develop a new product called "Antigravity," the original team's efforts were discarded, and core members were marginalized. More ironically, the Antigravity client not only frequently consumes tokens but also pixel-by-pixel copies Codex in its UI, even revealing a development folder named "Codex" during an official demo. Theo bluntly said that this internal conflict drives away talented engineers, leading Google to produce only insincere "AI trash." He also accused Google Cloud of being unreliable, revealing that the deployment platform Railway completely crashed due to internal rate-limiting mechanisms, which Google insiders were unaware of.
