Japanese Defense Administration official Yohei Wakabayashi said at a Senate Cabinet Committee meeting that the intelligence-gathering satellite network “Satellite Constellation” has been operating since April to ensure the effectiveness of long-range missiles as “counterattack capabilities.” Analysts believe that the role of the “Satellite Constellation” is like the “eyeglasses” of long-range missiles, which can be used to identify and monitor attack targets. On March 31 this year, Japan formally deployed the “Type 25 land-based anti-ship missile,” which has “the ability to attack enemy bases” (“counterattack capability”), in Kumamoto Prefecture. The missile has a range of about 1,000 kilometers, far exceeding Japan’s territory, and has clearly offensive characteristics. This move has continued to face strong concern and opposition from all sectors of Japan. (Xinhua)
