Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway announced the formal indictment of GPD Holdings, the parent company of cryptocurrency ATM operator CoinFlip, accusing it of “deliberately facilitating fraudulent transactions and profiting from them.” The lawsuit is a response to the state’s efforts against cyber scams targeting the elderly and veterans in Missouri. The Missouri Attorney General’s Office has asked the court to rule that CoinFlip’s actions violate the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, bar it from operating in Missouri, impose a $1,000 civil fine for each violation over the past five years (up to $1,826,000), and provide compensation to consumers.
