Jensen Huang: NVIDIA's GroQ chips will remain niche products for a period of time
During Wednesday’s financial results earnings call, Jensen Huang said that after NVIDIA invested $20 billion to acquire Groq’s technology, its custom AI chip “will be a niche product for a period of time.” At NVIDIA’s annual GTC conference in March, it unveiled a brand-new Groq language processing unit, along with a full data center rack loaded with the custom chip (named LPX). “LPX is designed for low latency and high token rates, but it has lower throughput,” Huang said. “The use cases for LPX are not widespread.” (Sina Finance)
