Chinese side's factual list responding to Trump's visit to China
On May 18, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guo Jiakun, presided over a regular press conference. A reporter asked: the White House has released a fact sheet about President Trump’s visit to China, introducing the outcomes of this visit. What is China’s comment on this?
Guo Jiakun said that during President Trump’s visit to China, the two heads of state agreed to set the construction of a China-U.S. constructive strategic and stable relationship as the new positioning for relations between the two countries. They also made plans for dialogue and cooperation in various fields, including high-level exchanges and diplomacy, economic and trade, the two militaries, law enforcement, and more, in the next stage. In addition, the two sides exchanged in depth views on international and regional hot-button issues of common concern.
Guo Jiakun further stated that China made clear its consistent position on issues such as Iran and nuclear matters on the Korean Peninsula, and urged the U.S. to face the reasonable concerns of the relevant parties, and to adhere to resolving problems peacefully through dialogue and negotiation. The economic and trade teams of both sides held consultations in a spirit of equality, respect, and mutual benefit. They aimed to stabilize China-U.S. economic and trade relations and properly address each side’s concerns, reaching an overall balanced and positive outcome. (Beijing Daily)
