CryptoWorld News reports that Iran’s new agency managing the Strait of Hormuz, the “Persian Gulf Strait Administration,” issued a statement late on the 20th on social media, reaffirming Iran’s “management and oversight jurisdiction” for the strait and emphasizing that ships transiting the relevant waters must coordinate with Iran and obtain permission. According to the statement, Iran’s jurisdiction “runs from a line connecting Iran’s Mubararak Mountain and the southern part of the United Arab Emirates’ Fujairah, to a line between the westernmost tip of Iran’s Qeshm Island and the UAE’s Umm al-Quwain.” The statement noted that within the above jurisdiction, all navigation activities of all vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz must be coordinated with and approved by the “Persian Gulf Strait Administration.”
