South Carolina passes new legislation supporting cryptocurrencies
South Carolina becomes one of the first states to officially establish crypto protections, with the governor signing Senate bill to pave the way for crypto use.
The new law prohibits discriminatory taxes on businesses paid with digital assets, and digital assets no longer enjoy separate tax treatment, with no additional taxes on crypto transactions within the state.
The bill supports mining industry, allowing mining companies to be exempt from certain permits, and imposes restrictions on industrial energy-related mining.
At the same time, it permanently bans state agencies from accepting or requesting CBDC payments, promoting crypto adoption.
