I want to know which currency is the most expensive in the world in 2026. I just looked up this information, and it turns out it's not the dollar or the euro, but the Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD), with an exchange rate of 1 KWD equal to 3.26 US dollars.
Kuwait is very wealthy from oil, producing about 3 million barrels per day, ranking 10th in the world, which makes its economy strong and its currency stable as well.
Next is the Bahraini Dinar (BHD) at 2.65 per dollar, followed by the Omani Rial (OMR) at 2.60 per dollar. All three countries are oil producers.
But when talking about the most expensive currencies in the world that are more widely recognized, you have to think of the British Pound (GBP) at 1.33 per dollar and the Swiss Franc (CHF) at 1.21 per dollar. These are old and highly credible currencies. The Swiss Franc, in particular, is considered a safe haven because Switzerland has a minimum gold reserve requirement of 40%, which makes this currency very stable and strong.
The Euro (EUR) is also still quite expensive at 1.13 per dollar. It is used in 20 European countries.
For the most expensive currencies in the world, most are from countries with strong economies or abundant resource reserves. It's not just about exchange value but also depends on market stability and trust.
