Which gold shop should I buy from? I went to gather some information with a friend. Turns out there are plenty of reputable, standardized gold shops, but most people still go to Yaowarat—or try long-established shops like Mae Thong Sook, Hua Seng Heng, and Ossiris, which are truly trustworthy.

If you’re buying for investment purposes, gold bars are better. Their price follows the global market, with no special extra charges. But if you want to buy as jewelry, gold ornaments offer more designs—just be careful because the buyback value can be lower.

The important things to check are that the shop is truly a member of the Thailand Gold Trade Association, and that you verify the price, the “block fee,” and the “making fee” clearly before purchasing. Don’t forget to keep the guarantee receipt. It’s better to sell it back to the same shop.

Personally, I prefer trading gold online more. You don’t need to hold the physical gold, and there’s no storage fee—but you need to choose a trustworthy broker. I think everyone should make their own decision based on their own investment goals.
