Hey, I just remembered that many of my friends still don’t really understand the trading hours for Thai stocks. Honestly, even when I first started trading, I was confused too. The Thai stock market isn’t open all day—it’s split into 2 main sessions: the morning session from 10:00–12:30, and the afternoon session from 14:30–16:30. This is really important if you don’t want to miss trading opportunities.
And before the market officially opens, there’s a pre-open period of 25 minutes (9:30–9:55 in the morning and 14:00–14:25 in the afternoon), during which the system collects orders in advance. After that comes a 5-minute random time window. The actual opening time isn’t the same every day—it can be as early as 9:55 or as late as 10:00. This matters a lot for people who like to trade right at the open, because price fluctuations are at their highest then.
Another thing you need to know is the market closing period. The market closes at 16:30, as usual, but right before the actual close there’s also a pre-close period (16:30–16:35) and a random closing window (16:35–16:40). A lot of people often forget this. The stock market closing doesn’t mean everything ends immediately—there’s still a final period you need to watch out for.
Honestly, knowing the opening and closing times in such detail can help you trade much better. Some people like to trade at the open, while others prefer the close—it depends on your own style. But either way, the Thai stock market is not like currency trading that runs 24 hours a day. We need to know the official trading hours clearly, otherwise you could miss important trading opportunities.
