I just found out how many trading sessions there are for the Thai stock market, not just opening at 10:00 and closing at 16:30. There are many other steps involved.
The stock market has a pre-open system 25 minutes before the official opening to allow the system to gather buy and sell orders. There is also a random 5-minute period to prevent price manipulation. This is very important for traders because prices are highly volatile at market open.
The morning session is from 10:00 to 12:30, and the afternoon session is from 14:30 to 16:30. However, the actual opening time can be as early as 9:55 or as late as 10:00, depending on the random timing. There is a pre-close period 5 minutes before closing, followed by a random 5-minute closing window.
In reality, knowing the opening and closing times of the stock market is crucial because trading isn't available all the time. You need to know when the market is open to avoid missing important opportunities. If you don't understand this system, you might be at a disadvantage when trading.
