Anthropic releases Opus 4.7 agent control tuning guide

Abstract generation in progress
CryptoWorld News reports that Anthropic has released its first official developer guide, providing an in-depth disclosure of the resolution limits, thinking depth ratios, and cache cost reduction mechanisms for Claude 4.6 and Opus 4.7 in computer and browser control scenarios. Screen resolution directly determines the accuracy of the agent’s clicks. The maximum long edge resolution for Claude 4.6 screenshot analysis is 1568 pixels, and for Opus 4.7 it is 2576 pixels. Once a screenshot exceeds this limit, the API server will automatically resize the image proportionally, which can cause misalignment and drift between the generated click coordinates and the original image on the client side. Developers must pre-scale screenshots on the client to 1280x720 (recommended for Claude 4.6) or 1080p (recommended for Opus 4.7). Testing shows that Opus 4.7’s control performance at low thinking depths can match the maximum thinking depth of Sonnet 4.6, with token costs only one-tenth of the latter. The official recommends setting the thinking option to high; compared to max depth, this not only halves token consumption but also maintains the same success rate.

It is recommended to include this in the prompt engineering manual to prevent newcomers from making mistakes.

Coordinate drift caused by proportional scaling can be identified during debugging.

1280x720 and 1080p are two standards; the team needs to unify the specifications.

The trade-offs of the options are finally supported by data; before, it was all guesswork.

A low depth can match the maximum depth of Sonnet. This optimization in Opus 4.7 is effective.

1568 vs 2576, Anthropic's cutting technique is quite precise.
